About Botanical Factory
The Osumi Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture has Japan's largest broadleaf forest zone , and untouched nature. There are about 4,000 kinds of plants, including wild cycads, endemic species of azalea, hego, longan, and lychee.

Located in Minami-osumi, Kagoshima, a town at the southernmost point of the Japanese archipelago, Botanical Factory produces and sells natural skincare products made from locally sourced, subtropical plants. With the mountains of virgin forests in the background and the sunset over Kinko Bay below, we are making our products in an environment where you can hear the chirping of birds and forest animals comfortably from time to time.

Ethical & Sustainable Skincare

By partnering with local farmers, we grow herbs like shell ginger and holy basil in fallow fields. The in-house plant distills raw ingredients into surfactant-, preservative-, colorant-, fragrance-, and alcohol-free cosmetics, all made with biodegradable ingredients. We support local farmers as well by actively purchasing their odd-shaped fruits, such as tangerines, passion fruit, pineapple, and utilizing them in our products.

Our Factory

In an effort to combat underpopulation and aging, we repurposed a part of the former Noborio Elementary School as a manufacturing factory to create Japan's first cosmetics plant of its kind where we produce everything from raw materials to finished products, including herb water (distilled water), aroma oil, and plant extracts.
